Preventing Parenting Burnout:
Meaningful tools for health and resilience
Caregivers have faced unique challenges over the last 3 years. A large study conducted by The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto found that 70% of school-aged children experienced a deterioration in at least one mental health domain since the beginning of the pandemic (Tombeau Cost et al., 2021). We were meant to raise our children in a village - with support from family, friends, neighbours, and the community. Not only have you frequently been parenting in isolation, but you've also been doing so in the midst of prolonged stress and significant uncertainty. Our children have been growing and learning in unprecedented circumstances, leading many of us to wonder about the effects the pandemic has had on their development.
It's all been... a lot.
You've been parenting in very unique situations since March, 2020. You're likely weary of Pandemic-related challenges. Maybe you have experienced feelings of burn out. You aren't feeling like the parent you want to be, but don't haven't had the tools or energy to change that.
You know that the pandemic will end and things will get better, they already are in many ways, but we are finding out that the stress and uncertainty of the pandemic has taken a toll on our children and youth.
We have heard our families - you want to help your kids manage their concerns, you want to make parenting easier. You want to get through this time stronger, with more tools in your parenting toolbox and a stronger relationship with your kids. You want to look back on this pandemic as both a time of challenge and also a time of growth and transformation... we have evidence-based strategies to help you move forward.
We've blended our experience as both pediatric Occupational Therapists and parents (combined we have 9 children ranging in age from 2-23!) and spent hours digging through the research on parenting and resilience to bring you this course.
